Embassy Suites hotel-did not make clear pool on site that pool was under construction


I spent a lot of time trying to figure out where to get the best deal in Palm Desert for a hotel to go hang out with kids with a pool. Embassy Suites in Palm Desert, CA looked very nice and booked with them. When we arrived we found out the pool was under renovation. The hotel was very apologetic and offered other "goodies" to make up for it but the whole point of going was to be able to swim (it was 109). We ended up booking somewhere else and stayed there. We had to eat the cost of Embassy Suites. My complaint is that this renovation was not clearly and easily visible when checking on or booking on the Expedia website. We paid twice as much to stay elsewhere. Renovations such as these should be at the top of the site, clearly visible when booking.
